The Wendbird is a new community group creating an alternative community for meaningful connection for people who are diverse in their sex, sexuality or gender identity.

Hi

GLWA has just launched its Regional Volunteer Program. The aims of this project are to:
• Give opportunities to LGBTI people in regional areas to volunteer and engage with the broader community and GLWA,
• To promote the services of GLWA in regional areas, and
• To use local knowledge to build community profiles throughout Queensland; information that can then be used by our counsellors to inform helpline referrals.
Regional Volunteers' primary role will be to act as GLWA ambassadors in their communities. This will involve distributing publicity and information merchandise to local venues and services. Also the production of a community profile for their location.
GLWA will provide the material to be distributed, training about the organisation and WH&S training. Training and supervision will be delivered to regional volunteers remotely, utilising IT/teleweb resources.
I have attached an Information Sheet and Job Description to this email.
People interested in volunteering with GLWA can apply here. http://www.glwa.org.au/about/become-a-volunteer/
For further information about this exciting new project feel free to email(roster@glwa.org.au)

The Gay and Lesbian Welfare Association is primarily managed, staffed and ran by volunteers. Without volunteers GLWA could not exist. As an organisation GLWA highly values the skills and contribution of every volunteer.

During the past few days, lots of people have been talking about stories of 'coming out'. We have seen one of Australia's iconic sports people make a public statement about his sexuality.

These moments can bring up a lot of different reactions for people. Sometimes it can feel really intense as we wonder 'Am I supposed to come out?', 'Should I choose a label for myself?'

The pressure can be intense.

GLWA/QLife are here to support you - no matter what your story is. Free from the assumption that there is a right or wrong way to live your life.

We are here to listen to what is meaningful for you.

If you feel like you need the space to explore gender or sexuality, or just need a good dose of empathy, please give us a call.

GLWA/Qlife are open 5:30-10:30pm every night, right around Australia.
Free Call: 1800 184 527
Or webchat: http://www.qlife.org.au

Please share widely.
