Wendybird Logo and Branding Launch Party (an LGBTIQ Community event!)

We would like to invite you to come along to our next Wendybird event, where we will be unveiling our brand new logo and branding!

We will be returning to the location of our first event in September 2014, New Farm Neighbourhood Centre, which is home to the first public sculpture celebrating LGBTIQ pride in Queensland!

We will have an interactive music space where you can join in with the tunes, and our blackboards for you to share your thoughts, and there will be opportunities to participate in some thought provoking conversations about things that matter to you.

There be a BBQ with beef sausages, vegetarian sausages, onion, bread, sauces, cordial and water. You are welcome to bring some salads and snacks to share if you are able, and gold coin donations are welcome to cover costs of refreshments!

We would like to welcome ALL people in our broad and diverse LGBTIQ community to come along and spend the afternoon with us and celebrate the official launching of Wendybird into the LGBTIQ community

This is a family friendly and all inclusive event (and yes, that means you!).

Wendybird would like to thank the Kal Collins Memorial Fund for its grant that has allowed us to purchase our branding and promotional material.

The Wendybird is a new community group that is all about connecting people with each other in more meaningful way. We are actively building a community for meaningful connection for people who are diverse in their sex, sexuality or gender identity, and we want you to be a part of it!

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Mental Health Matters...
Mental Health Matters because? What's your mental health pledge to yourself? What's your pledge to a loved one?

By asking someone if they are OK can make the world of difference. Not only does it give them the opportunity to talk things out but also shows them that you care about their well-being.

NOTE: Mackay's MHFA course will be on 26th & 27th of June. (Sorry... Typo)

GLWA will be conducting a series of free LGBTI Mental Health First Aid courses throughout Regional Queensland. To find out more check out http://www.glwa.org.au/services/lgbti-mental-health-first-aid/

What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help given to someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

What is the LGBTI Mental Health First Aid Course?
Research shows that LGBTI people experience significantly poorer mental health than other groups in Australia with those in regional areas suffering at higher rates than their urban peers. With unique issues facing LGBTI communities tailored interventions are required. To that end GLWA has developed modules to complement the existing MHFA package while addressing the specific needs of LGBTI people.
