The Gay and Lesbian Welfare Association or GLWA is a non-profit organisation concerned for the welfare of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex - or LGBTI - communities. We:

  1. provide services to Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
  2. are staffed entirely by volunteers.
  3. help around 3000 people each year with information, peer telephone counselling and referral.

The Gay and Lesbian Welfare Association or GLWA began in 1984 as the Homosexual Community Welfare Service (HCWS) providing telephone counselling and information.
